We made it here safely at 3:00 PM. We had smooth sailing through customs. It is 65 degrees and beautiful. The access road to the base was pretty adventerous. The base is great and now we are getting oriented and waiting for a group of 5 from MI that missed the original flight. We hope all is well at home. We’ll keep you posted.
    Love you all

Hello! All the kids are doing great. Everyone fell asleep very well tonight. All by 8:30! Today the girls made paper chains (one link per night) to let them know when you will be home. Tonight Karlee said the worst part of the day was waiting to come here, I think she’s having such a good time she doesn’t realize that was yesterday. We pray you are having a great experience and can’t wait to hear all about it. Take care, Kristi

So glad you made it to your base. I was having devotions and was led to Phillipians 1:3-5. It reminded me of you. We are all praying for you from Dayton. (especially Aaron)

    Hey Heath!

It looks like Kristi R. already left you a message. I talked to her about 5 pm today, and she said things were going well with the kids. They were playing games when I called. I’m glad your flights went smoothly. We pray you have a wonderful experience! Enjoy the sunny weather! 🙂

    Heather,
Praying that you not only have a great time, but that God shows you His Glory in mighty ways. I know that He called you and Rob down there for a reason. Do not worry about your kids…..they are being lifted up in prayer….and thought by Caleb….he talks about Landon and his sledding course so much, I know that the good Lord will be with him…HA…..tell Hermano Jesus that the “HULK” says hello…to my HULKITO!

Just a quick note to let you know all the kids slept through the night! They were all awake by 7:30, but they still seem slept out since they went to bed earlier than normal. Today the boys are spending the day in the shop with Bert fixing on the combine. The girls have played Barbies, dolls, dress-up, and now they are coloring. (Busy day for them!)
    Have a great day!

Thanks to all of you for your encouraging comments! We had a super day. We accomplished framing and dry walling one home. Our whole group completed 5 house structures today. We met many of the people from the village. The children are adorable. We managed to partially communicate with the people there and we gave them some of the gifts we brought. They loved them.
Kristi–just wondering how the medicine and potty are going.
We already have a lot of pictures to show you. One road leading to the base is very steep and is called security hill. It is great! So far we’ve made it through all of the crazy driving.
    Love you all.

Hello! The kids were so tired tonight after all the playing they did today. Kortney was the last to go to bed at 8:20 and all the other kids were sleeping by then. Karlee has been doing great with her meds. She has opened wide for each time. She has said she doesn’t want it when it’s time to take it, but after just a little bribery, she is very willing. As far as kortney, she has had a couple times were she has gone just a bit when she is playing down stairs and can’t quite made it upstairs in time but otherwise she is doing great. She wants to wear a pull-up quite often, but has kept those dry also (even at night).
We hope you are having a great time- the kids sure are. 🙂
    Good night,
    Kristi

    Heather —

As a mom I know how hard it is to leave our kids. Even though we are loving what we have left to do our minds always end up again wondering just what the kids might be doing. Well we ran into your kids in town with Kristi – believe me you have put them in good hands and they are having fun. Tyler was so glad to see TWO of his friends. The minute he saw Clayton and Landon we was more interested in dumping his family for his friends.
We hope you enjoy your experience in Guatemala. There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord will provide for your every need and bless you in ways you never expected.

    Hi Landon, Karlee and Kortney,
I hear you are having so much fun! No school and everything!! We don’t have any snow here. It is quite warm. It was about 80 today. We had a fun time building the houses again today. Dad and I are building a house for a family that has 3 kids just like ours. They have one boy and 2 girls except their boy is the youngest instead of the oldest. The dad’s name is Juan and we learned today that his wife died 3 months ago. We don’t know why she died, but it is sad. The girls are both named Lydia, but the oldest who is about 4 is named Lydia Naomi and the middle girl is about 2 and named Lydia Comida and the little boy is less than one year old and named Carlos. Please pray for this family. They love their new house. Today we finished the inside so that all it needs is paint and we put Stucko on the outside so that is finished too. We then put on a porch roof so that they have more space. We had a great time playing with the kids today. We can’t wait to show you pictures. Dad and I are having a super time. We miss you, but we will be back soon so we can tell you all about our trip. We love you. Have fun with Bert and Kristi and Clayton and Carissa! Have fun in the snow too!!

    Hi all,
Today was an amazing day! I have never prayed so intensely in my life. 5 homes were dedicated and all 5 families accepted Christ. Landon, Karlee and Kortney, thanks for praying for Juan and his 3 kids. They accepted Jesus and now know and love him. We painted his house today and we were able to decorate the inside. We drew a picture of a sun and a cross and wrote 2 verses that talked about God being our rock and believing in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. Look up Acts 16:31 and Psalm 144:1. Those were the verses we used. We also painted a tree and all of the family members and all of our team put a hand print on each of the branches. We will always remember them and they know Christ’s love because we were able to build them that home. We also surprised them by buying them a new bed and setting it up for them. We got to celebrate at the end of the day with a fiesta (party) and the kids were able to break a pinata and get lots of candy. We miss you a lot and we are so glad that you are praying for us. We can feel your prayers all the way here in Guatemala. Love you! It is time for devotions now.

Hello from an icy world her in iowa. The kids are doing so good! They are praying for you every day.
Karlee finished all her “yucky” medicine tonight so we are going to celebrate by going swimming on sat. Kortney is doing so good with potty! I talked to your mom tonight and she is excited to see the kids.
We will read the kids the messages you sent to the kids tomorrow, sorry we haven’t had them all out to the shop (or hog building as we call it for kortney – when we call it a shop she thinks we are going to sioux city to shop) to read your messages to them yet.
We pray you are having an amazing experience.

    Hi Justin,
We can definately see why you have gotten hooked. We see an erie similarity between you and Dan. We were commenting on how were so much alike. Is that good? bad? you can decide! 🙂 We think it is great! What a super experience. God has blessed us just as much with the team we are down here serving with!
We have been putting together the medicine packets today and it has been a great opportunity to get to know one another. We are looking forward to the medical clinic later today.
Enjoy the snow. It is warm and sunny here–sorry, I don’t mean to rub it in–okay maybe I do.
    blessings!

    Mom,
I have a really cool story to share with you when I get home. You were able to minister to a woman here without physically being here. It is really cool. I will leave you in suspense until later. Have fun with the kids. I’m sure they are excited to see you!

Hello, we are also watching the game… Vikings – 21. Saints – 28.
The girls are all in bed, karlee has been sleeping for an hour, carissa and kortney are chatting :). The boys both took naps (kortney too) so they are staying up to watch some of the game.
Landon says “we play silly balls at g-ma and also made our own chuch, I had to tell the sermon.”
We are praying you have a safe trip home, be ready for lots of snow and ice:(
    See you tomorrow,

We made it safely to Omaha at 2:30 PM! The snow and ice extended our team’s experience together as we are at a motel overnight. We are very excited to get home and see the kids, but we will have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks for all of your prayers. God has done amazing things in our lives. Just ask and you will get an ear full!
