We will check throughout the week on the site to follow your team and see what you are going to be doing. Doug & I will add you to our prayer list and pray for your safety and that you may be God’s instruments on your mission.
Keep Arlin out of trouble as best you can while you are away from home. 🙂
    Blessings,

It sounds like you’re having fun! Did you get to sleep on the way to Guatemala or are you completely sleep deprived?

Have fun today…I agree with Justin…maybe you can help deliver a little Guatemalan baby at some point…. 😉

    Love you!!!

Oh, and I hope you’re enjoying your food. I would be in bad shape! 🙂

Thanks again to all who responded. We had a busy day but very productive. We get to interact with the families a lot as we work. If we’re sanding, the kids love to help sand and when we stucco’d, the kids would run with the stucco material to us adults who were spreading it on. Today I was like the Pied Piper when handing out sunglasses–I thought just the girls would want them, but the little boys, mamas, grandmas were crowding around saying “to Me” (in Spanish). I even saw a papa put them on. If you open your backpack to hand out candy, you are quickly surrounded by all these kids, too. They are beautiful people and very grateful and eager to interact with us. One little girl just sat on my lap for over a half hour. They also love to see their photos on the digital camera.
I did leave my camera at the village by mistake tonight, so pray that I get it back tomorrow. Dan feels quite confident that I will. Tonight we will get our gifts ready for the families of the house that our team built and tomorrow we paint the inside and present the gospel to the families as we diedicate our homes. Keep praying for safety and God to touch their hearts.

Oooh….i hope you get your camera back. I don’t think cameras like you.

It (again) sounds like you’re having fun. Do you want to take the kids home with you? 🙂 They sound super sweet!! Have fun today painting and dedicating the house. We’ll keep praying for good things!

The girls are kicking this morning as I type this…so I think they’re saying “Hi Grandma.” 🙂 Speaking of the girls…..how long do you want to come down this summer….. 😦 We have ANOTHER day off school (power outages so they canceled), and we’re going ’til June 16th now I think!! This is RIDICULOUS!!! Okay….enough venting, but grrr…..

    Love you! Lots of prayers!!!!

Hi Mindy, & all my dear friends.
Yes, I got my camera back –The mayor of the village found it exactly where I remembered using it last and I got it back today. Today was incredible! We had an awesome time giving each family their gifts and then Dan & Hermano explained the concept of grace & accepting Jesus as Savior. All 5 families knelt to recieve Jesus as Lord. We ended with a Pinata & hug fest. I wanted to take a bunch of them home, but I think customs might be a little bucky. Love you all!
Mindy–Dad says Hi–he tried to write but don’t think it went out. He appreciates all the prayers, too.

Great day, but it’s really late, so I’ll try to write more tomorrow. Even with road construction & van problems, God is good! We were able to get to our village for the medical clinic & show the Jesus film. When our Spanish pastor then preached and gave an altar call, all 15 families of the village came forward. It was a beautiful clear starry night and God answered prayers beyond what we can imagine! Good night!

My prayers are with both you and Arlin, and the whole gang. I pray for your safe return, but that your work was very effective there. The weather is finally nice here. The Lord is great!!! Love you much. Mom

Hi there! Better late than never I figure. 🙂 Been thinking about you though. I really enjoyed reading about your time there! I look forward to hearing more about it when you’re back. Even though we don’t talk much on the phone, it seems strange that I can’t talk on the phone to you. Praying for your safety. Relay my thoughts to Arlin as well. Love you!

Hope your last day in Gautemala is a good one. I don’t imagine you will be able to watch the football game. I’m sure there will be lots of cheering in the US for the Vikings. Have a good trip home tomorrow, and may the memories of your week in Gautemala always bring a smile to your face.

    From Janene
I typed a message earlier & the satellite wasn’t on electricity so I lost it. We’ll try again!
Mindy–the message was from Dad, he just typed it under my account name. The present is for your birthday–Hope you like & have a great day. Can’t wait to see pregnancy photos!
Mom–sounds like you’re doing well. Glad the sun is shining. Keep busy & have fun with your friends. Thanks for all the encouragement.
Judy! Thanks so much. It is wierd to be cut off from cell phone, land line & personal e-mails. But, the world gets along just fine & it is much less distracting down here.
Priscillla & all my fellow Vikings fans GO VIKINGS! Cheer for me! Thanks for thinking of me.

Our clinic yesterday was up the most un-imaginable rough “road” Back home, we have level B roads–this must have been a “Z” It was steep & curvy and had holes & ruts big enough to put a wheelbarrow. The bottow of our van dragged over the rocks & a few times, we all had to bail out to get over the next rut. But, God gave us safety & we made it both up to 1800 ft & back down.

I especially enjoyed the medical clinic. I stood next to Dan Smith (our director) and helped fill the meds that he had determined the patient needed. We’d fill a bag for each member of the family. We had 270 people and 72 families. We distributed lots of vitamins, antibiotics, creams, and eye drops. I got to deal with a little girl with a dislocated finger. I’ll tell you more later.

Today we go to Antigua to the market. It should be a lot of fun.
Continue to pray for safety as we travel home. Love you all,
    Janene

Team Maurice made it to Omaha by 2:30 pm only to discover that there is a ground blizzard at home with ice, wind gusts to 50 mph & 2 inches of snow. The interstate between Omaha & Sx City is closed & the plows have been pulled off the road. We found a nice motel in Council Bluffs & hope to get home tomorrow. The bumpy roads of Guatemala with 60-70 degrees sounds pretty good again. Actually, we had a wonderful trip and many people responded to the altar. Janene

Janene and Arlin. I hope you have made it home by now. I already miss hearing your voices. I am so thankful to have met you on this trip. Your love of others, eachother and most importantly for Christ is so evident. You two are amazing and I look forward to seeing you again. You will forever be in my heart. Thanks for the many hugs. Have a great week and pray that it is an easy transition back to “normal” life for you. Until we see eachother again. Hopefully sooner than later!
